Note: This recipe was developed using the Char-Broil Big Easy Oil-Less Fryer. If you are using the Char-Broil Smoker-Roaster Grill, cook with the lid open and set the temperature to High. You may need to adjust cooking time.
I recently rediscovered a family favorite: bacon-wrapped tater tots made in the Char-Broil Big Easy. They’re seriously addictive. While shopping the other day I noticed Brussels sprouts and immediately thought: bacon. Bacon pairs wonderfully with Brussels sprouts, so I wrapped the sprouts in bacon and cooked them until crisp. The result? Fantastic bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts that vanish fast.
Eat ‘Em Like Popcorn
These bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts are utterly delicious — the kind of snack you’ll pick at like popcorn. I used a simple Italian herb blend, but any seasoning works: salt and pepper, garlic salt, Creole seasoning, or your favorite rub. All are great options.
I cooked mine in the Big Easy using a bunk bed basket, but you can also roast them in a 425°F oven on racks until the bacon is crisp and the sprouts are tender.
If you’d prefer sprouts without bacon, try my roasted Brussels sprouts recipe for the Big Easy. And if you love bacon, my maple bacon carrots cooked on the Big Easy are also a must-try.
It’s smart to keep a few spare grease trays on hand for the Char-Broil Big Easy when making bacon-heavy recipes.

Bacon-Wrapped Brussels Sprouts
Equipment
-
Char-Broil Big Easy
-
Char-Broil Bunk Bed Basket
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Brussels sprouts (depending on size, you can fit up to ~30 sprouts in the Big Easy: 15 in the large basket and 15 in the bunk bed)
- 10 slices bacon, cut into thirds (about 1 piece of bacon per 3 sprouts)
- Your favorite seasoning (Italian herbs, garlic salt, Creole seasoning, or simply salt & pepper)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the sprouts and boil 5 minutes, or until they just begin to soften.
- Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking.
- Preheat your Big Easy (or oven if roasting).
- If sprouts are large, cut them in half lengthwise.
- Lay bacon pieces on a flat surface and sprinkle with your chosen seasoning.
- Place a sprout on one end of a bacon piece and roll it up. Set the seam-side down in the Big Easy basket.
- Lower the basket into the Big Easy and cook 25–30 minutes, or until the bacon crisps to your liking.
- Remove and let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Using a Big Easy bunk bed basket doubles your cooking area and is handy for cooking more pieces at once.
