How to make Minions Bookmarks

Kids who love Minions will enjoy making these simple, handmade bookmarks. With just a few supplies and a little time, you can create bright, cheerful Minion bookmarks that are perfect for reading time, party activities, or rainy-day crafts. No cutting machine required—just scissors, glue and a bit of creativity.

This project uses basic craft supplies; I’ve listed the tools and materials below so you can gather everything before you start.

DIY Minion Bookmarks

Supplies:
Yellow, blue, black and gray cardstock
Moveable eyes or small white and black cardstock circles for eyes
Glue or craft adhesive
Small black paper for mouths
Black tassels or ribbon for finishing
1-inch circle punch (optional)
Hole punch tool (or a sharp pencil to make a hole)
Corner rounder (optional)

Step one: Trim a piece of yellow cardstock to 2 1/4 x 7 inches for the bookmark base. Use a corner rounder or scissors to soften the top corners if you like. Cut a blue rectangle for the overall bib measuring about 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches and glue it near the bottom of the yellow strip.

Step two: Cut two angled strips from blue cardstock to form overall straps. They don’t need to be exact — slightly longer straps can be trimmed after gluing. Position and glue the straps so they meet the top of the blue bib area.

Step three: Create the goggles by cutting a thin black strip of cardstock to wrap across the face area. Punch or cut two 1-inch gray circles for the goggle lenses and attach moveable eyes or layered paper eyes on top. Add a small black mouth cut from paper. Each Minion can have a different expression — smiling, surprised or grinning — so let kids experiment with faces for variety.

Step four: Punch a small hole at the top center of the bookmark and tie on a black tassel or a short length of ribbon. If you don’t have a hole punch, carefully pierce the paper with a sharp pencil and thread the tassel through. Press all glued parts firmly and allow to dry before using.

Tips and variations:

  • Laminate the finished bookmark or glue it to a piece of lightweight cardboard for extra durability.
  • Use patterned paper for overalls or add small paper buttons where the straps meet the bib.
  • Let kids decorate the back of the bookmark with stickers, initials, or a favorite quote.
  • Make a set of bookmarks in different sizes and expressions to give as a small handmade gift.
