Here’s an easy homemade gift to make for family and friends this holiday season — Cookie Cutter Fudge filled with your favorite fudge flavor.

The holidays are approaching fast — only a few weeks left until Christmas. If you’re like me and often struggle to find thoughtful gifts for coworkers, neighbors, or acquaintances, homemade treats are a heartfelt and budget-friendly solution. Cookie Cutter Fudge is a delightful option: it’s tasty, customizable, and comes with a cute cookie cutter that your recipient can keep or reuse.

This idea has been on my list for years, and this season I finally tried it. I often give cupcakes or cappuccino mixes in pretty containers, but I wanted something new to give to a broader circle of people. Cookie cutters are inexpensive and available in many shapes — a set from a dollar store works perfectly. If you prefer to keep the cutter, unmold the fudge once it’s fully cold and firm (removing it at room temperature is messy). Alternatively, pour the fudge into an 8×8 pan and cut shapes after it sets.

I’m not a decorating pro, but a few sprinkles and candy pieces added right after pouring the fudge made a nice finish. You can also melt chocolate for drizzling or use buttercream or royal icing if you prefer. Use any fudge recipe you love — I used a simple, no-thermometer peanut butter-chocolate fudge that only requires melting and stirring. To shape the fudge, I wrapped the bottom of each cookie cutter with foil, placed them on a cookie sheet, and spooned the fudge in. A bowl with a pouring spout works well if you want to pour instead of spooning.

This idea isn’t limited to Christmas. With cookie cutters in endless shapes, you can adapt the fudge for birthdays, baby showers, Valentine’s Day, or any special occasion. I had planned to use a large cupcake cutter but didn’t have it on hand — next time I’ll track it down!

Here’s an easy gift to make your family and friends for Christmas — Cookie Cutter Fudge filled with your favorite fudge of choice.
Ingredients
- Six (3-inch) cookie cutters
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup (4 ounces) unsalted butter, cut into tablespoons
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Candy and sprinkles, for decorating
Instructions
- Wrap the bottom and sides of each cookie cutter tightly with foil and place them on a cookie sheet. Set aside.
- Bring a saucepan of water to a steady simmer. Set a heatproof bowl on top of the pan without letting the bowl touch the water. Add the chocolate and stir until almost smooth. Stir in the peanut butter, then the butter, until completely smooth.
- Remove the bowl from the heat. Whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla until well blended. Spoon or pour the mixture into each prepared cookie cutter; any extra can go into a ramekin. Decorate with candy and sprinkles while the fudge is still warm so toppings adhere. Chill until firm before unmolding.
Notes
You can use any fudge flavor you like — swap chocolate and peanut butter for caramel, lemon, Nutella, or an Oreo-based fudge to customize for your recipients.
