How To Make Chocolate Fudge

  1. Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang so you can lift the fudge out easily.
  2. In a double boiler (or a heatproof bowl over simmering water) combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir continuously until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract quickly so it blends evenly.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Arrange the candy-coated Easter eggs on top, gently pressing them into the surface so they stick as the fudge sets.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator until firm, then lift the fudge from the pan and slice into squares with a sharp knife.

This fudge is rich, simple to make, and sure to be a crowd-pleaser — one bite and it’s easy to see why it’s a favorite.

How Long Does It Take For Fudge To Harden Up

Allow about 2–4 hours for the fudge to firm up at room temperature, though chilling in the fridge will speed the process and usually takes around 1–2 hours. Avoid overmixing the chocolate mixture — stir only until it becomes smooth and starts to thicken slightly.

This chocolate fudge makes an excellent base — serve it plain or customize the toppings for different occasions. If you enjoy flavor variations, try a peanut butter swirl or use milk chocolate chips for a milder taste.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 30-35 Easter candy eggs
  • 10 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Line an 8×8 pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  • Use a double boiler or a microwave to melt the chocolate chips with the sweetened condensed milk and butter, stirring frequently until smooth.
  • Remove from heat, add the vanilla, and stir quickly to combine.
  • Pour into the lined pan and smooth the top with a rubber spatula.
  • Top with the candy eggs and chill in the fridge until set, up to two hours.
  • Once firm, remove from the pan and slice into small squares with a sharp knife.

Notes

Customize toppings as you like — sprinkles, chopped candy, or a drizzle of white chocolate work well.

Use milk chocolate, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate chips depending on your taste.

A double boiler ensures gentle melting, but a microwave on short bursts also works — stir between intervals.

Evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk are not interchangeable; use sweetened condensed milk for this recipe.

I used candy-coated Cadbury-style eggs, but any egg-shaped candy or colorful chocolates are fine.
