These phyllo cream cheese lobster bites are irresistible—creamy lobster mixed with tangy cheese, served in crisp, flaky phyllo cups.

Do you prefer a full meal or an assortment of small plates? If you’re someone who could happily make a meal out of appetizers, these lobster-filled phyllo cups are ideal. They make great party finger food, yet are satisfying enough to enjoy as a light meal when paired with a few other nibbles.
I’m definitely an appetizer person and love an assortment to graze from. Some other favorites I’d serve alongside these include bacon-wrapped scallops, scallop-stuffed mushrooms and bourbon meatballs.
This lobster phyllo appetizer is adapted from my warm crab dip recipe, tweaked to highlight lobster while keeping the same rich, creamy base. I made it the first time and was confident to share it because the base recipe is already reliable.

How to make the lobster appetizer
Pre-step
Have a medium saucepan and a jelly roll pan ready. Pre-cooked phyllo cups can be kept frozen until you’re ready to fill and bake them.
Step one
Gather ingredients: cream cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, lobster meat (fresh or thawed), dry sherry, shredded sharp cheddar and Colby cheeses, precooked bacon, and phyllo cups.

Step two
Place the cream cheese and mayonnaise in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Cut the cream cheese into chunks so it softens and melts more evenly, stirring occasionally.
Step three
When the cream cheese begins to soften, stir in mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce and horseradish. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Step four
Chop the lobster into bite-sized pieces. Shred the cheddar and Colby cheeses and chop the precooked bacon into small pieces. Have the sherry ready.

Step five
Once the cream cheese mixture is smooth, add the lobster, bacon, sherry and shredded cheeses. Stir until everything is heated through and the cheeses are melted into the mixture.
Step six
Arrange phyllo cups on the jelly roll pan. These cups come precooked and stay crisp even after baking. If you’re hosting a larger gathering, double or triple the batch—one box usually contains 15 cups.

Step six
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spoon the lobster cream cheese mixture into each phyllo cup. You can slightly overfill them—the mixture won’t spill over during baking.

Step seven
Bake for 10 minutes, until the filling is warmed through and the cheeses are melted. The phyllo cups should remain crisp and golden.
These phyllo cups are convenient because they stay crisp even after baking, and the recipe yields extra lobster mixture that’s perfect for dipping chips, spreading on crackers or enjoying straight from a bowl.

Arrange the filled cups on a serving plate, add a few simple sides if you like, pour a glass of wine and enjoy.

This appetizer is quick to prepare, elegant and crowd-pleasing—perfect for a casual get-together or a special occasion. Enjoy!
