- Fiberfill
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
⭐ Notes
- All instructions, abbreviations, and materials are given in US terminology.
- To change size: add or remove the 57-stitch rounds to alter height. To change width, continue or reduce increasing rounds (3 sc then inc, 5 sc then inc, 7 sc then inc, etc.).
- For the stem, end each row with a slip stitch, then chain one and turn.
- Work with fairly tight tension so fiberfill doesn’t show through gaps.

Creating segments in pumpkin
(starts at 10:40 in video)
Find the center of a roughly 5-foot length of orange yarn and place that center on the top of the pumpkin. Wrap both ends down around the pumpkin and pull taut to create the depth of the first segment. Twist the yarn at a 90-degree angle and bring both ends back up to the top, tighten for the next segment. Repeat this process until you have the number of segments you like (the example uses eight). Finish by tying a secure knot at the top and trimming the ends.
Stem
(starts at 12:20 in video)
Foundation row: Ch 8.
Row 1: Ch 1 (turning ch), sc in next 7 sts — 8 sc.
Row 2: Flip, ch 1, sc in next 7 sts — 8 sc.
Row 3: Flip, ch 1, sc in next 7 sts — 8 sc.
Finishing: Fold the rectangle lengthwise and sl st the two long edges together. Knot and fasten off one tail. Use the remaining tail to sew the stem to the top of the pumpkin, covering the knot used when creating the segments.
Now display your finished crochet pumpkin and enjoy the compliments—then proudly say, “I made that!”
