There is nothing better than a cold, refreshing drink on a hot day. That’s why I’m loving this blueberry twist on the classic mojito. Blueberries are the perfect summer fruit and pair beautifully with mint and lime—this blueberry mojito is one I’ll be sipping all season long.

When planning a June cocktail, I wanted something fast that highlighted blueberries. While I sometimes make syrups and sauces for cocktails, like my Hot Apple Pie Bourbon Cocktail and Strawberry and Lime Vodka Collins, I don’t always plan ahead. This recipe is simple and relies mostly on fresh fruit rather than prepared components.
The only ingredient you really need to stock up on is blueberries, and they’re plentiful and affordable in summer. When fruit is in season and local, the flavor is noticeably better. Limes and rum are pantry staples for many, and mint is easy to grow—plant a single mint and you’ll likely have more than enough throughout the season.

Although the recipe below makes two drinks, it scales up easily for a pitcher. For a crowd, muddle the blueberries and mint, combine with rum, lime juice, and sweetener, then strain into a pitcher filled with ice and top with soda water. It’s a refreshingly simple option for cookouts or patio evenings.
