Tomorrow I leave for Asheville, NC to take part in my first playoff tournament. I’m excited to play, but even more excited to be with my team and see what we can achieve after all the hard work that got us here. It didn’t fully sink in that the tournament was this weekend until I received this in the mail:
The postcards were sent anonymously to the whole charter roster, though I have a sneaky suspicion who the sender might be. Little touches like that have meant a lot to the team.
We’ve trained hard and we’re ready. Everything we have will be on the track Friday morning. I’ve been inspired by every person on our roster lately, and I’m proud to be making this trip with them. So many feelings—nervous, excited, hopeful. I’m sure I’ll have more to share after the tournament, but for now, I need to pack.
Our first game is Friday morning at 10:00 AM Eastern. You can watch the action live at wftda.tv with a weekend pass.
After the tournament we’ll take a two-week break from practice. I’m already wondering how I’ll fill that free time. On my list: a 50-mile bike race, rekindling my love for CrossFit (and planning ahead for next season), revamping the garden, and maybe painting my coffee table. A little rest, a few projects, and a chance to recharge before the next season.
