How to make Baked Frozen Ravioli

Preheat the oven to 350ºF and coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
Spoon 1 cup of marinara sauce into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer to cover the bottom of the dish.
Pour another 1 cup of marinara sauce over the ravioli so they are well coated.
Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella and 1/4 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs over the sauced ravioli.

Layer the remaining ravioli on top, spread the remaining marinara over them, and finish with the remaining 2 cups of mozzarella.
Sprinkle 1/4 cup fresh grated Parmesan over the top.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the casserole is golden and bubbly. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Substitutions & Variations
This recipe is very adaptable—use what you have on hand to change the flavor profile.
- Add meat – use meat-filled ravioli, or add a layer of cooked ground beef, sausage, or slices of pepperoni between layers.
- Swap the sauce – try Alfredo or a roasted red pepper sauce instead of marinara for a different taste.
- Make it Tex-Mex – use beef ravioli, swap mozzarella for Mexican-style shredded cheese, use plain breadcrumbs, replace Parmesan with cotija, and use enchilada sauce. Garnish with cilantro instead of basil.
Storage and freezing
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
If you use refrigerated (not frozen) ravioli you can assemble the casserole in a freezer-safe dish and freeze it before baking. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then bake as directed. Avoid repeated thawing and refreezing, as pasta texture can suffer.
