CookBlogShare Week 3: Winter Oven Bakes to Warm Your Kitchen

Welcome to my first week hosting #CookBlogShare. This year I’ve teamed up with Karen from www.lavenderandlovage.com to keep this lovely link-up going. Looking back at last week’s round-up, I was delighted by the number and variety of entries on Karen’s post. For my first roundup I’ve chosen a theme: winter-warming oven bakes.

Last week’s submissions offered a wide range of dishes perfect for popping into the oven and enjoying straight away. With cold weather persisting, there’s nothing better than turning the oven on to warm the kitchen while cooking something comforting and delicious.

#CookBlogShare Week 3

It was a challenge to pick favourites from all the brilliant recipes linked in last week’s party. The variety was inspiring and reading through them made me very hungry. It was a fantastic way to start the new year, and Karen and I were so grateful to everyone who linked up.

There were stunning oven bakes, hearty slow-cooker meals and plenty of sweet treats. Here in Surrey it’s still gloomy and cold, so I’ve selected the winter-warming oven bakes that would warm both belly and soul while filling the kitchen with cosy aromas.

Savoury Winter Warming Oven Bakes

I’m not quite ready to pack away the Christmas flavours, and the idea of elevating the humble sausage roll with rich venison has jumped to the top of my list. Check the venison sausage rolls from The Rare Welsh Bit for a delicious, flaky pastry bake filled with seasonal flavour.

Venison is an iconic taste for autumn and winter, and turning it into an easy-to-eat pastry makes it even more appealing. The combination of gamey meat and crisp pastry is irresistible — a true winter-warming oven bake.

This Mediterranean chicken stew from Easy Peasy Foodie feels like a promise of spring. It’s a rich, juicy oven bake packed with vegetables and full of flavour — comforting yet light enough to feel fresh.

Eb’s chicken stew is hearty and healthy, and it gets to the table in under an hour. It’s a perfect quick oven meal for busy evenings when you still want something nourishing and satisfying.

If you love lasagne but dislike complicated recipes, this easy lasagne from Effortless Foodie is calling your name. Ready in around 45 minutes, it’s a quick, comforting oven bake. The touch of smoked paprika adds an intriguing and warming depth.

Who can refuse a slice of chocolate cake? This easy chocolate button cake from Farmersgirl Kitchen looks divine and wonderfully simple to make. It’s perfect for birthdays or a cosy weekend treat with friends and family.

This year I’m exploring more vegan and plant-based bakes, and the healthy vegan carrot cake with cashew icing from Tin and Thyme caught my eye. Packed with carrots, it’s a traybake that feels like a treat while still leaning on wholesome ingredients.

The carrot gives the cake a lovely rich colour, and the cashew icing sounds like a delicious, creamy complement — a satisfying winter bake with a lighter, plant-based twist.

The gluten-free angel food cake from Gluten Free Alchemist is almost too pretty to slice. This uniquely light sponge, made with egg whites and fragrant vanilla, is both gluten- and dairy-free — a delicate, airy bake that feels almost ethereal.
