I’ve been enjoying my air fryer lately. My husband loves fries and pizza—he often jokes that they’re their own food groups! The air fryer makes it simple to prepare on-plan snacks, meals, or desserts quickly and without a microwave.

Air Fryers & THM

An air fryer is a great tool for anyone following the Trim Healthy Mama (THM) plan. It helps avoid drive-thru temptations by allowing you to create tasty, on-plan options at home. I’ve had success making cookies, appetizers, roasted vegetables, and meats in mine, and the results have been consistently good.

If you’re exploring air fryers, consider the size you’ll need. Smaller models are handy for quick meals, while larger units work well for family portions.

Air Fryer Sizes

Air fryer capacity affects how much you can cook at once. A 3-quart air fryer is ideal for two to three servings. A six-quart model suits a family of four to five, and a ten-quart unit is convenient for larger households or gatherings. For big batches and crowd feeding, an air fryer toaster oven or convection oven-style unit can be especially useful.

About Jicama

Jicama is a crisp, mildly sweet root vegetable that works well raw or cooked. It’s lower in carbohydrates than many starchy alternatives and keeps a pleasant crunch after cooking, making it perfect for fries. The texture pairs nicely with bold seasonings and dips, and these seasoned jicama fries go well with chicken, burgers, or as a standalone snack. If jicama is unavailable, turnips can be used as a substitute.

Why I Use Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is a stable, high-smoke-point oil suitable for high-temperature cooking. Compared with some other oils, it withstands the heat of air frying without breaking down, making it a good choice for crisping fries while preserving a clean oil profile.
